Today last year, you were given the gift of a new heart and the chance to live. For a few hours we all had the the most tremendous sense of hope, thanks to the brave decision of a family who wanted to honour the wishes of a beautiful person who was losing their life. Sadly, the outcome was not what we all hoped for. The medical team fought so hard to give you the best possible chance to recover - and amazingly you did, giving us another month with you before the second transplant. You were amazing Maddy! So brave, so full of hope and determination to come home, so grateful for all the care you were given. We wish we were still with us now, more than anything, and we were not ready to let you go, but I am so grateful we had you for just a short time longer. You are still with us, just not physically and we include you in everything we do. Love you always xxx
